Just when you thought the world was going to become a little more easy to understand, Broadway has made room for Grey Gardens, the musical. Imagine world of opulence gone terribly awry and still be able to find charm in the madness at hand. Albert And Robert Maysles did in their film documentary or docudrama which bacame a cult classic as did the real, true to life characters of big and little Edie Beale, The aunt and her daughter, the cousin Jackie O. What an idea, to turn this into a musical. What a risk to bring it from off-Broadway to the Broadway Venue. What insanity! What A Hit!!!
If you are in or around New York City this Broadway season, Grey Gardens is a must. If only to see what it might have been like to experience the real Big and Little Edies. As depressing as their situation was it is clear that they knew more about who they were than most of us know about ourselves. Their is great truth in their absurdity is not at all unlike the great truth in life. to find out more check out these link sites.
